green zoas Tank: BioCube
User: rbrusletto
Type: Reef
Size: 14G
Description:
First tank I ever bought. It has been up the longest and has problems w/ algae now. Going to add two 1/2" bulkheads to the back, one in chamber 2, and one in chamber 3, to allow for hookup to my 75G Show tank, which will allow the tank to run on larger water volume, use the benefits of calcium reactor and automatic water top off. Flow consists of the main circulation pump, a Maxi-jet 1200. Thermometer is in the back in chamber 1. This is a test message.

Description:
I started out with a 38 gallon FOWLR to learn the ways of this hobby, I knew some information about saltwater aquariums, but I wanted to learn more. In the beginning of 08 I started up the 38 and went a year with it and got bored because I had limited space and could only stock a few fish, went through some bad cynobacteria out breaks and wanted to upgrade in the beginning of 09. I had a 155 BF which was originally freshwater which was nothing to much out of the ordinary as far as fish go so I finally took the plunge and broke down the freshwater tank at the end of Dec to give me a fresh start for the new year. Jan and most of Feb was dedicated to ordering the supplies/equipment needed to take on this large project, but I couldn't be any more excited. So as of March 1st the Lights were turned on and the few fish that I have were acclimated and so now the wonderful hobby of reef keeping continues :) Id also like to thank everyone at Reef Central who has helped in anyway and say thanks.

Description:
The display is a 36" 65 non drilled. The hood and stand are pine diy. The sump is a 30" 30g tank with a 10g sectioned off for the refugium. The tank is cooled by 3 fans. One fan runs over the sump 24/7 to keep tank cool and promote evap so I can top off with Kalk more often. The other two fans turn on when the lights turn on. The tank has a 25W Gamma UV sterilizer and a carbon reactor for polishing the water. Also for cleaning the water there is a Octo Extreme 160 that is mesh modded. In the refugium I grow Cheato, varous types of culupara, and Xenia. Ther is 1 100w heater that keeps the tanks temperature from falling below 78 at night.

Description:
55 gallon high, 10 year old, and has a sump with a small hang-on refugium. Livestock only consists of damsels, chromis, and a tomatoe clown. There is a couple of clams, and a yellow Goby. I have a Toadstool leather and a Kenya tree. Lost few ricordia and mushrooms to a little tiny rock crab, hitch-hiker, a couple of month ago, not knowing he was there; took care of that problem. I use a mix of wet-dry system for filtration and a Prizm skimmer. I have about 125 lbs. of live rock and the ground is a mostly cruched corals with some gravel and live sand. Also I have a DYI denitrator that I'm experimenting with. It's been operating for about 6 months now. I'm still trying to find out if there is any useful change with this addition. I do not change any water in this aquarium. Basically, I sort of adding about 5 gallons of treated tap water every week to compensate for evaporation; I live in Savannah, Ga. and the climate is warm almost all year. The temperature of this aquarium runs between 78and 82 Deg.
